Good looking Phaeton
I saw this on Ebay and I sure wish I had the dough for it. Original 1950's build from the owner's estate. It has a lot of cool features. 60hp flatty Pontiac tailights, Topeka High Trojans sticker in the rear window, etc. I just think it would have been great to see this packed full of teenagers in 1950 blazing down Topeka Blvd.!! I love the looks of the side curtains too. This would be a fun one with some neat history.

Re: Good looking Phaeton
Ha!!! That's cool!! I like yours too! Here's the link to the auction. As you can see, they have it starting high and it's at an "auto museum" so I guess they want top dollar. My opinion is that they should start it a bit lower just to get the bids rolling but what do I know. I would trade all of my cars, projects and junk to get this one (still wouldn't be enough though!!). I really like it! Maybe someone will get lucky!!

Re: Good looking Phaeton
Seems to me they've owned this one a while. It's a neat car for sure, but I doubt they'll get top dollar the market the way it is.

Re: Good looking Phaeton
Yeh ..wanting 22,900 seems a bit high.
Registration capability would be the major item on this one. To put a flattie in a Model A here in OZ, would require a boxed chassis at start, then almost every other mechanical part of a modern donor car to pass. Things like burst proof door locks . seat belts, headrests, demisters, the list goes on. It would be nothing but a hot rod. This one looks cool if it was able to be driven on the streets in that guise. The dealer is drawing a long bow saying that it is just like it came out a time capsule. With a crappy green metallic paint blow over, no hession on the back of the front seat, and home made vinyl seat recovers. |

Re: Good looking Phaeton
It sure looks like a better start for a restoration project than many others that I have seen. I motor, headlight and steering wheel change would allow you to post freely here and they would only complain about the color, etc, etc!.
On Monday, I went to a friends house to look at the little roadster, and when he took me to another of his buidings the hood was up on another Model A. A closer look revealed a similar motor swap, like in the Phaeton, and my friend started telling me how he had run across several of these and knew that two of them were dealer swaps, trying to upgrade their sales. This particular one was dealer installed in the early '40's he said, as it had belonged to his brother.

Re: Good looking Phaeton
My mistake. Brent is right. I should have posted this in the "Hot Rod" section. Maybe the moderators can move it or close it.

Re: Good looking Phaeton
I enjoyed seeing it, and hope the new owner preserves it for what it is, a piece of American History frozen it time. Lots of A's were "Train Station" cars back in the '50's and '60's, nice to see one untouched. I don't think it broke any site rules, just slightly bent them. Merry Christmas! Bob

BUGSY .............................
Thanks for posting that here ! If not, most of us would have not seen it. I LOVE it. I would not change a thing ! Don't worry about the purists, who think that this does not belong here. Not too many of us have 100% cars, that we haul around on trailers. Most of us don't even own trailers. Thanks again, MIKE |

Thanks Mr. Bugsy for the post, I really enjoy seeing a good looking Model A Ford any time, even if it was all original, with 40 year old road kill in the back seat. The process is buy a car, restore the car your self, or if you can't do the work yourself, find a good restorer, that doesn't Whine, B---h, Moan, Tattle Tail, Brown Nose, or don't play well with others. Then you sell all the parts that you didn't use, like a running 60 V-8, to help pay for for the restoration. Mr. Bugsy, I like to see any car, and discuss what is original, and what is not. It Sharpen's your eye, and is a learning experience, for correct year parts, thats why I an here. I think you filled the Model A sites Requirement very nicely. Thanks Herm. |

Re: Good looking Phaeton
The people who enjoy this hobby ,are the people who understand that for about 100years people have been changing parts around on these cars. I have several early fords, the ones that i like the most are the 100% original ,but I am not so narrow minded that i can't excuse and enjoy some of the brilliant modifyed projects i see.
