Default Making Whitewalls Black

Howdy, Boys:

I have a beautiful set of whitewalls on my '39. I wish to have blackwalls.

I figure I have two choices:

1) Turn them around and paint the whitewalls black with some kind of tire paint, or....

2) Do a trade. (Slim chance.)

What tips do you have for option #1?

Much obliged,

Mike Durhan

I used this product many years ago on raised white letters which I never cared for. The tires were on my un-fendered coupe, painted letters were on the inside and after a lot of miles and years still looked like the day I painted them. I'm sure DuPont doesn't make it any more, but if you can find it somewhere it's the best, bar none.

I know the perfect product. Use BLACK STOVE POLISH. It might be hard to find, in the south. Ace Hardware will order it for you.
I used it on two tires, four years ago, and you still can not tell, they were once whitewalls.
Use plastic gloves. It won't come off your hands either !
It's also good for dressing black wall tires.

Flat black Krylon spray paint. Turn the whitewalls to the inside and spray away. Simple and cheap....and lasts for years.

A cheap way to accomplish the black wall look is something that you can pick up at most art and craft stores in small quantity's .

Acrylic black paint,,it dries flat and has the chemical properties to remain flexible,,meaning it will expand and contract as needed,,,don't use latex,it will peel in a heartbeat! HRP
