So I'm ignorant to points vehicles. How much repoped' stuff is allowed in a points vehicles?

Cotter pins, kingpins, grills, glass, bolts and nuts? Just curious.

Many parts will be neccessary in repro only as NOS just isn't around. Tranny gears, points, and other parts that can't be seen will of course not recieve a point deduction as long as they function OK. Radiator shells and other parts that are easily detected as being repro will in most cases be allowed on high point judging, but will or may recieve a lower score. That's why guys doing high point cars pay a premium for NOS or mint restored origianl parts. Very high points costs $$$$

Short answer is none that can bee seen. The ruls say if a repro part in EXACTLY like the oroginal part no points will be deducted, but the judges are on such a power trip that is they know a part is not available and must be a repro they will take points off anyway.

There were several long and nasty threads about this a few months ago.

A better answer to you question is: How many points do you want, ANY REPOP at all is "Allowed" but you WILL get points deducted. So decide at what level you want to score and find the best parts you can, A&L parts are very very authentic to the originals and using a combination can score you a nice marc of excellence. Good Luck, Were here to help.

The answer depends on were you plan to show the finished vehicle. Local shows, AACA vs MARC/MAFRC, they all have different derees of judging.

Roadster62 brings up a valid point.

I've discovered AACA Judging is a bit more relaxed compared to Model A Club judging. I suspect that is because the Model A Club can get anal about the process since the Judging Standards are tailored towards Model A's only while the AACA Judging manual is more of a skimmed over type of judging.

Same holds true with NCRS Corvette Club or the Classic Chevy Club, or any other make/model specific group.

AACA is a joke from what I have seen.

I have seen some pretty bad senior cars. While AACA can not get all the details correct like cotter positions, you would think the fit and finish would held to a high standard.
