Default Restored Heater

Here's a couple of photos of my recent project. I restored the non-standard heater in my 47 Super Deluxe.

Now the next phase is to fabricate a way to attach PVC to the blower housing, and install the defroster hoses.

Oh, I am still working on the handle for the door in front. This heater had a side door in both sides, and pieces of sheet metal were cut and welded into the openings, and filled with body filler.

The heater was then painted with hammered paint. I don't know why the Mfg of the heater thought so many doors were needed. Once the front door is closed, a lot of air volume comes out of the blower housing, so I think I will do a decent job of defrosting once I get the hoses attached.

That's pretty neat. You really did a nice job on the restoration of the heater.

That must have been a reasonably popular heater, I have the same one in my 1945 1/2 ton. It works well in my pickup, but it may be a bit small in a full size car. With all the built in fresh air openings the truck is a bit breezy so my feet will get cold if I don't open the drivers side heater door.

That's a Mopar heater, they have a big core in a "U" shape and worked really well up here in the Great White North in Chryslers and Dodges, and I've seen a few in Fords, too. ..B.

Thanks everyone. Mike B, yeah I used Rustoleum Hammered paint that we got at Home Depot. It really turned out good. Johnny, no I don't have anything extra for this heater.

Barlea,

I thought it was a Mopar heater from others I've seen on Ebay. one of the pipes on the heater core had a slight crease in it but I took it apart to have the core checked.

While I had it all apart, I decided to bead blast the heater and make it look nice.
