Re: trottle lever
OK, this is my first reply on a possible fix....does the gas peddle move when you move the throttle lever? Is it possible it is stuck on something?

Re: trottle lever
ck to see if the lever carb//throttle lever is resting on the throttle stop adjusting screw..
if it is not it could be a weak//broken return spring or linkage problem if it is maybe the base idle is to high or you may have a vacuum leak |

Re: trottle lever
Disconnect the linkage between the steering column and the throttle
assembly and see what happens. If there is still a problem it's in the throttle assembly. Bob |

Re: trottle lever
The ends of the rods have spring loaded caps that grab the ball. Just pull back and lift up. I use grease on the balls.

Re: trottle lever
If I disconnect the throttle linkage to the carb and from the steering column will it stop my engine from racing?

Re: trottle lever
Just depends on where the linkage is hanging up. Also don't overlook the carb plate itself for being centered and fully closing. I leave the 2 plate screws a bit loose, then snap the plate closed a couple times, then while holding the plate tightly closed I tighten the 2 screws. Also make sure the plate edge bevel faces the right way.

Re: trottle lever
Did the pin shear for the throttle arm? does the arm actuate the throttle?
If this just happened out of the blue I would look at these two things first. Assuming the car was running fine until this problem. Did you work on anything recently? Bob |

Do you have ability to post pics here ? If so, maybe you can show some pics of what you have for linkage,etc.. Have YOU done any mods to original equipment ? Is the existing equipment...original or mix/match ? It is not complicated, BUT you do have to know application/parts function. Do you have any instruction books for Model A , as they have pictures/info. BTW,there are differing parts for diff yrs ! OK, not seeing anything of your setup, I'm going to make a guess that the return spring is broken/weak. |
