Default Update on Ken Ehrenhofer's Heart Attack

Hello everyone,

I wanted everyone to know that on last Sunday the 7th. Ken Ehrenhofer suffered a heart attack. We were cleaning up from our Model A Quad meet and he began to have tightness in the chest, heavy sweats and not feeling well. Lil" Val loaded him in the car and took him to Central Dupage Hospital, he was given nitro glycerin, O2 and some tests were performed, it was found that there was some oxygen deprivation to his heart. In the morning a blood enzyme test did confirm a heart attack and an angiogram followed. He was found to have an 80% blockage and surgery was performed to put in 3 "NOS" stints, 2 in one artery and 1 in another.

He is at home and resting and feeling much better, and looking forward to getting back to Model A's. I talked to him a night ago and he sounds great.

Helen has requested that no one at this time call the house OR his cel. But to PLEASE feel free to email him your well wishes or post here.

Wow, sounds like he was lucky to have people around to identify a problem and help him get to the hospital. Here's hoping for a quick and full recovery.

Ken, glad to hear you're now on the mend. That 40 horses garage needed a rest, now you can give it one for a while.

A good outcome to a possible disaster. Glad he is doing well.
A word of caution however. It is always best to call an ambulance instead of taking a suspected heart attack patient to the hospital yourself. Why? Because in the ambulance they can begin treatment right away where as if you drive him yourself, you cannot.
Ambulances are well equipped and well staffed.
Please heed this advice. I've seen folks drive the patient themselves and the patient died because he went from bad to worse and the driver could do nothing.
I'm retired with 40 years in the medical profession so want to share this for future circumstances.
