After market 30-31 cowl band
I know I know, here we go again............Should have researched this BEFORE buying. Im trying to install my aftermarket cowl band on the 30 pickup I bought from MAC's. No amount of reshaping is going to make this chunk of crap fit. Any after market cowl bands out there that fit?

Re: After market 30-31 cowl band
the one I got from Brattons was crap too. The side sections are warped so its impossible to get a straight line between the hood and the band. I ended up finding a decent original for less than the cost of the repop.

Does the cost of shipping almost equal the cost of the item?

If its painted, you can lightly bead blast or sand it to roughen the surface to accept paint. I wonder if filler will stick to small dents in stainless.. |

Might be the first time I would HAVE to use lead. But, you scratch up the suface real good filler would stick. I like using fiberglass jelly in areas that might knocked up against. But the jelly is brittle, so not a good choice around the bend. And yes, Brets was suggested to me by Steve Pluker.

Re: After market 30-31 cowl band
I've only bought two and both fit perfectly. Its been 14 years on the first one and seven on the second but I heard complaints even back then. I got my first from Snyders and the second from Billy and Wanda new and used parts in GA. Billy told me that the same company made them all. If I was lucky, I was lucky twice.

Maybe I got lucky, but I bought one last year from Early Ford V8 Sales, Inc. They are in Piedmont S. Carolina. It was for my '30 coupe and it fit like a glove and looks great.
