Default wheel construction

I rubbed a wheel rim down yesterday and noticed what looks like a weld join right across the rim.....inspection showed another rim with two such joins?about 12 inches apart at right angles to the rim.Is this how they were manufactured? or has someone done a repair?I thank you and look forward to your input.

Vic, THAT is how they were manufactured with regard to the first rim. Often times this was highly visible in the paint when the wheel was originally dipped, ...yet is lost during restoration. Regarding the 2nd rim, in my mind, at right angles would mean 90 degrees in relation to each other and I have never encountered this. Could you post a picture?

Thanks Brett....That's a relief...the second rim I did not describe vey well....it is the same as the first rim except that there are two weld lines about 12 inches apart....at first I thought that someone may have inserted a section from an old rim but the job is too exact for that....like to post a photo but don't have the knowhow...many thanks for the reply and have a great Christmas.Vic
