Picked up the '39 motor for my 34 3W
....so this weekend I went and picked up the 39 motor for my maroon 34 Three Window. Notice the custom tie down method.... actually I got lucky it did not flip up into the front seat, or out the passenger side window. Lesson learned. But actually once it ripped into my headliner and bent the fold down back seat, it was smooth sailing for the two hour trip!
Anyway, it is now safe in my dirt floor barn that was built in 1933, and leaning over, and "remodeled" in 1940. Today received a large order from All Ford Parts in Campbell, CA, and the fun begins. |

The good news is, an overhead V-8 would have been more top heavy and probably wound up in the front seat. And i thought I traveled dangerously. Glad it wasn't worse.

I think you need a nice F1 pickup to haul stuff.

Yes, Like to have extra parts and projects. ha Have a twin to your 34-3w or maybe an older sister. Basically stock, 59A, coach maroon with black fenders, red 17 inch spoke, whitewall tires, wheels and mohair. Restored in the 1970s but needs attention again.

Re: Picked up the '39 motor for my 34 3W
I know you know it but that is a SUPER dangerous way to haul something heavy like that. You're talking about a 550 lb battering ram . . . where the MOST LIKELY accident avoiding event is a fast stop --> bringing that sucker forward. So glad that is all that happened - boy it could have been a disaster. Nice looking 3 winder!

Re: Picked up the '39 motor for my 34 3W
Reminds me of the time I borrowed my Dad's (fairly new at the time) 70-something wagon to "pick up some parts." I didn't tell him the parts were a complete flatmotor. Loaded it in the back with no stand, no tie-downs, no nothing - hey, I was young and stupid (as opposed to old and stupid like now). Anyway, I made it home without incident - didn't even get the rubber cargo mat very dirty. The Lord really was watching over me that time!
