headliners?
I have a 1939 standard sedan. My upholsterer said to get an Acme headliner. I see that Mac's has them but I can't determine which one I need by the website. So do I need to call them or is there a way to make sure I get the right one? Thanks in advance, Rod

Re: headliners?
Their website only shows suspended headliners for older VW's and
doesn't inspire me to order an old Ford car headliner but, I could be wrong. Call them. Plus, I always wonder about a company with the name ACME. I would want to talk to customers. Any reviews? http://www.acmeautoheadlining.com/ |

Re: headliners?
ACME? Wasn't that the company that sent their stuff to Wiley Coyote so he could decimate the Road-Runner"?

Re: headliners?
Funny as heck - thanks. Kinda what I was wondering. Never seemed to work out too well for ol' Wiley.

I think the Road Runner was CEO of the Acme Corporation.

Re: headliners?
Your upholsterer should have, or be able to get, suitable material for your car and install it himself. A lot less problems with correct fit etc. If he's not happy about doing it find another who will.

Re: headliners?
I was told that Acme is the place that did the sun visors and provided materials for LeBarron Bonney. I contacted them after LB went under and will send them my '34 visors. They have a large product line and Bob Westmoreland at Acme was extremely helpfull.

95476: That's good news. Maybe they will procure the LB patterns and fill the void.

Re: headliners?
Hi guys, and thanks for the replies, especially the levity, really funny. I should have known when my upholsterer said, "Acme, just remember the road runner", that should have been my first clue. Thanks again, Rod

Re: headliners?
Acme has been around for many, many, years. If the product wasn't good you would have heard about it by now. I got a headliner from them years ago and it fit fine.

Re: headliners?
Sounds like Acme might be the way to go.
I would however stay away from Acne, as the material is likely to get imperfections on it. |

Re: headliners?
Acme supplies many of the vendors and they mark the prices up.
I did not find out about it until L/B went under. From what I understand they didn't fo much "in house" in the last year or so at L/B. |

Re: headliners?
As an upholsterer I understand acme only will sell through distributers not to the public so contact an upholstery distributor like Keysto Bros . I have used Acme Headliners for 50 yrs top notch - They have patterns for anything

Re: headliners?
I used Cartouche from Carpenter. Had very good success.
