Default signal lights

looking for some ideas or suggestions for front signal lights on a 29 CCP, i would rather not modify cowl lights but rather add on a small light for signal purposes . any images of a typically used light would be appreciated.

Canadian,
Take a look at LogoLights. The leds fit between the bumper, the controller is a small box with magnet that can be "hidden" anywhere convenient and has a built in beeper and indicator light. LogoLights also can be used on 6 and 12 volts. My car came with the 1st generation version. They have moved on to a 3rd generation offering. I'll post some photos when I get to the garage. Russ

I prefer not to add extra lights and use the park, cowl and brake lights as the turn signals.

But, You want to add extra lights. There are add on lights for this purpose that the vendors have as Russ mentioned.

I didn't want turn signals in my cowl lights or add lights to the front either. I have duel bulb headlight reflectors and wired the 'running' light socket for turn signals and added an amber bulb.

Not suggesting you run out and buy new reflector, just giving another idea.

If you look closely you can see the amber bulb.

Canadian,
I've posted photos of my 1st generation logolights to my public album LOGOLIGHTS. I very happy with them. I even had a Hot Rod guy yesterday asking about them. Russ

Y,

Are you running 12 volts or did you find a 6 volt amber bulb?

I know you said no but the use of cowl lights as directional lights is very easily done and looks professional. It saves the Mickey Mouse lights between the bumper bars. Wayne

I didn't think of that. Yes they are 12v, 1156 bulbs.

I used some 6 volt motorcycle lights between bumper bars and existing tail light back.

Most vendors sell the little lights that fit between the bumper bars. So with these you could take care of your front. Being a 29 CCPU I assume you do not have any rear bumpers. So maybe just get some red lights you could hang on your bed may do it in the rear. My neighbor on his 29 CCPU just used some lights on the rear and front that you use to see on trucks for clearance lights. Just a couple of ideas.

A friend took some 6 Volt bulbs to a Manicurist & she painted them AMBER for him.
Worked @ Chrysler-Plymouth when AMBER bulbs came out. They furnished us with AMBER paint, for emergencies.

6 volt amber bulbs are nearly impossible to find. If your car is 6 volt, you could do as I did, and simply buy amber lenses for the cowl lamps and use them for signals. I don't really like the look of the amber lenses, but I like the looks of add on lights even more. Every body does not like the same thing.

Here's a couple of pics of the ones I'm using on our '31 CCPU, They're not wired up yet, but I'm working on it. The lights are mounted on brackets that clamp to the headlight bar.

6v incandescent amber bulbs are hard to find but you can get Amber LED's with the 1156 base. https://www.ledlight.com/s25-24-led-...6-volt-dc.aspx

I like the looks of the amber cowl lights, just not used for turn signals. I hate the look of add on turn signals, especially if they have a modern appearance.

That's why I put my turn signals in the headlights. (as I mentioned above). And from my experience, don't try to use LED's with the headlight reflectors. All the ones I've tried don't play right with the reflectors because they fire forward only.

Added: I haven't used the ones in the link above but I see they are 'side' firing, so they may work OK with the headlight reflector.

I have just finished fitting turn signals to my 6volt, positive ground Tudor using the style of lamp that fits between the bumper bars. I intend in due course to replace the front ones by installing amber LEDs in the park light sockets. The rears will be replaced by red LEDs in the stoplight sockets in the drum tail lights. (I am about to fit a right hand tail light.) I will need to change the flasher unit for one that is LED compatible.

I used a kit from Truck Lites (https://www.truck-lite.com) supplied by George Moir that allows the stop light to also act as a turn signal.

The following should lead you to a source for various types of LED bulbs for classic cars, including amber bulbs suitable for 6 volt positive ground.

Good suggestion but Amber lens are not available for 1928-29 cowl lights. Only available for 1930-31. Wayne
