Default What is the purpose of this?

Can someone tell my what is the purpose of the spare tire hub cap opening on a 36 humpback for? Its a pretty elaborate set up, something must go in there.

Keyed lock cylinder so the no goods can't steal your spare.

This is the lock mechanism that you are looking for. There is a spring and a lock ring you will also need.

The spring and lock ring may still be in place as it appears that someone drilled out the lock cylinder with a very big drill bit or repeatedly with a smaller drill bit. Ouch!

That mounting plate is not for 36 wide five spare carriers. Looks like 35. Is that a spring or bolt? Whichever, I cannot see its purpose.

It looks like a 36 wide 5 that has been modified to hold 5 x 5 1/2 wheels to me.
