f2 self adjusting 12" backing plates
City:
Jacksonville
State:
NC
Price:
500
I have a set of f2 1948-56 backing plates.
The plates were originally for a single piston wheel cylinder, but i pluged the bottom hole w/ jb weld and i drilled out the extra hole to accept the more reliable dual piston wheel cylinder The backing plates comes with brand new 12"x2" brake shoes brand new springs brand new wheel cylinders brand new self adjusting kit yes, these brakes are not only self energizing...there also self adjusting (no one really wants to pull off there wheel and drum to adjust there own brakes do they?) my friend works at a napa warehouse and we spent all day running part numbers and looking through boxes trying to figure out what modern parts will work with the f2 brakes....and we accomplished it. BUT i decided to go in a different direction and decided to sell these. these will fit on early 40-48 spindles, people use this set up for the buick finned drum conversion too. these will also work on 40-48 banjo rear ends...i found e-brake lever and brake equalizer bar for 12" ford brakes....it will work on this set up...if you want the lever and equalizer bar i would include it in the auction for an free i will post pictures tomorrow. 500 shipped to your door. what you see is what you get people. I have all the hardware, springs and cylinders to have more modern self adjusting brakes on your hot rod and it still keeps the look traditional again, these can be used on the front or rear...im included the 12" brake equalizer bar and lever shown in the pictures just as mock up now. i will ship these dissembled, to save shipping cost. the rear lincoln brakes w/ parking brake hardware retail for 575 and its not original and its not self adjusting and its not free shipping. |

Re: f2 self adjusting 12" backing plates
found some free time to sand blast them, and powder coat the backing plates.
and no, im not raising the price....im actually dropping the price to 400 shipped. (a solid complete set of these backing plates go for around 200 shipped...and that doesnt include the rebuilt parts and prep work) i did the sand blasting and powder coating myself, its an amateur job. i did one single coat of "Smoke Chrome" to give it a patina look. it would look good with an extra clear coat on it, but i didnt have any extra clear powder. here are the pictures.
