Re: Oil -chex --Dual temp
The Dual Temp gauges come up from time to time in the classifieds here and on Ebay. I brought one from a member on this forum . I'm told you can fabricate/repair one using a 1935 temperature gauge which is available new -do a search here
The Chex Oil Gauges come up very rarely on Ebay having said that I have brought 2 on Ebay in the last 5 years and facilitated Ian buying another one for his 1932 Coupe . The first one I brought was $600 US and is an original It works but I suspect needs adjustment as I'm not sure the Ammeter reads correctly . About 6 months ago a Rudi reproduction came up I put a bid of $200 on it with no expectation of winning and I did - I guess it just slipped under every ones Radar . A mint ?NOS 1932 one also came up recently and I drew Ian's attention to it and he purchased this as well. So they are out there if you keep looking Karl |

Re: Oil -chex --Dual temp
My Chex Oil Schwartze gauge I bought on Ebay from Belgium is an original 1932 one.
A quick way to tell the difference is Schwartze is clearly printed on the front lip of the gauge. The original oil Chex gauge on the back is like a little tin box with slots for illumination. On the repop are see through and the lugs are in a different location. This information is from Deuce Lover. A original pressure switch is really hard to find, but on my 1932 Chex gauge which I was able to find thanks to Karl, I have fitted a adjustable Hobbs perssure switch from U.S.A which works fine. |
