Default Turn of the century NYC

Some interesting pictures of early NYC architecture and automobiles.

Enjoy: http://www.nyc-architecture.com/SPEC/GAL-BW.htm It's a
long scroll, so pull up a chair and "set a spell."

Thanks for the wonderful look back.

Did you notice the poor horse pulling the milk wagon was just skin and bone. I've read that it wan't uncommon to work the poor horses to death and leave them where they died in the street.

True, I've seen old photos of dead horse removal wagons, guess they became Tow Truck companies in later years.

Anybody who enjoyed that will love this: http://www.shorpy.com/

It has some exceptional Ford stuff, too.

"Downtown Gunsmith" Two mutually exclusive terms in modern cities. 1/2 way down the NYC page.

"Getting a Ticket 1900" Is that R.E. Olds or Henry Ford on a Quadricycle?

Jack,
Thanks for this wonderful collection of fine photos of NY.
I remember some scenes like that when I was a kid in the '40s. I loved those Mack trucks with the huge chain drives.
