Smile Ground Hog Day - Looks like an early spring

Wisconsin is buried in snow and looks like the ground hog will not be able to see his shadow in a snow storm. I better start getting the car ready to tour, spring should come early.

I was just up north of you Thursday (Mercer, Wi) picking up a beautiful 32 roadster. It was an absolute BLIZZARD from Mercer down to Woodruff on hwy 51, maybe I ran over that damn ground rat, so he will not see his shadow anyway!

I live a couple hours away from Punxsutawney and it is on my bucket list to see the event. Amazing how he can see his shadow. Must be all the spotlights on him.

Drove the 32 miles to work this am. on a solid sheet of ice with blowing snow. By 10 am clear skies and 40 mph wind. Think the groundhog could have seen his shadow, but the noise of the wind likely he did not even peak his head out. Rod

The weather forecast for Punxsutawney is 36 degrees with an 80% chance of rain or snow. Now y'all might think this makes Phil seeing his shadow unlikely but those fellows have been tailgaiting the Superbowl all weekend and now are partying all night leading up to Phil's appearance. There's no telling what they'll see-they probably are seeing 2 or 3 copies of Phil already.

Phil chose to ride in an open car and saw his shadow.

The big rat has been wrong before. His credentials are lousy. If he was good at what he does he could find work more than one day a year ! Wayne

If he sees his shadow there will be 6 more week of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow there will still be 6 more weeks of winter. Do the math.

The groundhog is OK but if you want real accuracy flip a coin.

Down here in Southeast Louisiana the groundhogs don't dare even come out of their holes for fear the Cajuns will throw em in the gumbo pot.

I can sympathize with you guys. This winter was so harsh I almost had to buy a pair of long pants!

I read in the paper that the Wisconsin groundhog bit the Mayor of Sun Prairie, Wis where this takes place. The Mayor said the groundhog will not see spring.

It turns out, they don't even let the groundhog decide. The "Committee" meets before hand, decides what the groundhog will see and writes their little drivelly poem.It was cloudy, foggy and overcast, but the groundhog still saw his shadow as he has done for about 90% of the time. Nothing is sacred.
