Default Prototype Flathead engines auctioned

My brother went to an auction south of Seattle this weekend and said Speedy Bill Smith's Museum of Speed bought two Ford flathead V8 prototypes. One was a 1931? that used thermosyphon and no water pumps for cooling and sold for about $8,000. Maybe it could have doubled as a steam engine. The other was a 1935? and had the exhaust manifolds by the intake manifold, similar to a Cadillac. It sold for about $6000. That engine would have been an interesting attraction installed in a car but it is good that a museum bought them to go on display.

Speedy Bill was able to corner the market on Ford prototype engines before his death. Glad to see his tradition continue! Anyone that hasn't seen it has definitely not seen everything.
