Default Big Three Swap Meet Feb., 23rd, 24th & 25th

The Big 3 Swap Meet is next weekend in San Diego.

http://www.big3partsexchange.com/big-3-swap-meet-maps

What is your Site Number? They have a list at the gate but it would be nice to have a list of Model A sellers ahead of time.

I don't want to have to walk all over Qualcomm Stadium. My old legs can't take it anymore.

David, most of the San Diego A’s will be up near the E3 sign in the North West quarter of the former Qualcomm Stadium. For what may be the LAST Big 3!

Vern,

If they do tear down the Stadium, maybe they could move the Swap Meet to Del Mar Fair Grounds or some other location.

I and Mark Williamson will be at spaces NN F 16-19 with lots of Model A stuff, chassis parts, '29 frame, misc. E-28 parts, valve stems, and some NOS parts for your fine point restoration, plus a couple of chassis' to study of fine point restorations in progress, an early-30 and a VE-28. Give me your wish list and I might see if I can dig it out for you.

I talked with one of the guys who put this event on. He said don't believe it, when you hear that this is the last such meet ?

My question for you guys who attend this event regularly, is there a parking place/lot where you can park a trailer for the duration..3 days ?

Hey Hardtimes,

I've seen a lot of RV's inside the Swap Meet at the South parking area by the trolley stop. You may have to purchase a spot but they may be sold out.

Some of the San Diego guys may know if you can park overnight in the regular parking area outside the Swap Meet area.

I will be in NN H-37, selling Model A parts.
I will have 5 or 6 free plastic cup holders to give away. Just ask for one. They attach to one of the dash panel screws, just below the windshield.

Don Vagasky and Ron Edwards from AZ will have spaces NN H38-41, next to me. They usually have Model A and later ford parts for sale.

I really wanted to attend this year, but it isn't going to happen.

Hopefully the sponsoring clubs can find a new location. However, finding an affordable location that is big enough to host this event near San Diego will likely be very difficult.

I have attended this swap meet on and off for the last +/- 30 years. I started attending when I was a kid and it was at a Sears Parking lot in El Cajon and then the El Cajon Airport-which was basically a dirt field. It got nearly rained out one year and it moved to the stadium which has had more than a few names.

It is really a great event and has become an institution in SoCal. It was always well attended and people traveled from great distances for this event.

With the demise of quality swap meets, this is one of the few swap meets that has thrived over the years. It was always a great source for legitimate old car parts and cars.

For those of you who are going: good luck, happy swapping and have lots of fun. If you can find time to take photos and post them, that would be awesome.

Enjoy.

Actually I've gone to the last three years Big 3.
There is less Model A stuff, to me its like going to the Monthly Pomona Auto Swap Meet. Many Vendors with nothing related to Model A's and even Cars or Trucks.
This will be the first time I skipped the Big 3.
I Hope you do find lots of Model A stuff if you do go.

No, but I did come close a few times. There were some items to be had, just not for me this time.

Unfortunately, 90%+ of the parts were either junk, or eBay prices.

Still fun though . My pedometer said 16,000 steps

I've been looking for 1930 front fenders for some time. No luck this year, only saw rusty ones. This year I got front and rear Fender Brackets and Running Board Brackets that were sand blasted and primered.

Last year I got perfect front and rear 1930 bumpers from a hot rod guy.

Too tired to go back today.

So correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like not many people found Model A Treasures at this years Big 3 Swap meet.
I know in the past many parts were priced high over what I would consider a used swap meet price.
In the Future I hope they would put all the Model A parts sellers in one dedicated section.
Last year I walked all of the area and really got tired of all the modern car stuff. There was a lot of unrelated Car stuff to like Furniture and new stuff from China like you would see at a regular swap meet.

If you are strictly a Model A fan only, you would need to do a LOT of walking to see only a few items. If you are eclectic (like me), this swap is entertaining.
