Motor Rebuild
Dropped my motor off today in Clearwater Florida. The guy is good and has great references. He is to survey motor then let me know what he thinks and then we move forward. Looking to see the completed by end of July this year. No worries on the the time line as I have plenty to do until its ready. Can't wait to get her back on the road.

Re: Motor Rebuild
Let us know what your rebuilder thinks needs to be done and why.
It will be good info for others thinking about rebuilding. Thanks,

Re: Motor Rebuild
Hey fords,
Piece of free advice, that has been learned hard way ! Never tell someone whom you are paying to do work that...you are not in a hurry; take your time, etc. After many months of waiting for produce/progress, you will wish that you had not done so. Also, if builder is nice person, good businessman, maybe he will take pictures for you/posterity/reference later on ? You may even provide the camera, eh. I know that I'm glad that I have a picture record of my first B build. Good luck |

Re: Motor Rebuild
Ditto on post 4. Fellow club member left his engine at a rebuilder saying take your time ( as in do a good job ) . Eighteen months later rebuild was yet to start.

Re: Motor Rebuild
I agree not to tell any builder to "just take your time", he most time will. I generally take 1 month to finish one because of outsourced work. I also don't recommend to pay in full up front, I get 50% and balance at the time of pickup. I also supply my customers an estimate on paper with the agreed build and upgrades and the amount of deposit for their records and piece of mind.

I sure wished that YOU lived nearby, as I've followed your input and have gained confidence that I'd like you to do engine work for me ! I agree with your statements here also regarding 50% up front. I think that I just MISREAD a statement of yours (let me get my CVS 99c glasses)....Yup, still looks like ..'I generally take 1 month to finish one' ! That's outstanding, even if twice that time. Shipping is outrageous and getting worse tho, IMO |
