Would be nice if you introduce yourself. All Ford 35,36 domestic open cars were of the deluxe version if I am not mistaken.Domestic production 3028.No telling how many are currently left.It would be just a guess anyway. You can buy the 35-36 restoration book through the Ford V8 Club which will tell you all about these cars.

Nice looking car. Welcome to the FordBarn.
Getting the Early Ford V-8 Club of America 1935-1936 Ford Book is a good idea. It is the go-to authoritative reference book for your car. |

Nice car. By all means, buy the 35-36 Ford book. It and a membership in the EFV8CA will be invaluable

Hi The 36 Roadster in the movie not only turns into a 35 but also turns into a Cabriolet.

Re: 1936 Ford roadster Deluxe info
Apologies to all.
I've been on the HAMB for a while and forgot this was a different site and that a new introduction would have been polite. I'm Neil Williams,English and live in France now. I've been wanting a 36 roadster for about 30 years and managed to find one in Portland two years ago and have enjoyed it ever since. I've had a couple of 32s and a 29 on 32 rails but have always thought that the 36 will one day be seen as the greatest of all the 30s Fords. Hope that statement hasn't rocked the boat. Love em in stock form, nose up,tail down Westergard style and as hot rods. Love the Laurel and Hardy picture. I've got one of a coupe wrecked by the 3 stooges,so here you go |

Re: 1936 Ford roadster Deluxe info
It would be nice if someone with the time/interest/skill would do a '36 roadster registry (since nobody mentioned an existing one). Then, of course, there would be the rub of original vs modified, and all the variants in between. Mine, for instance, has doors from two different cars, and quite a bit of replacement steel. Does that make it less of a roadster? In the eyes of some "purists" I suppose so. To others? Not so much.

Re: 1936 Ford roadster Deluxe info
That would be good.
I got told there were under 100 roadsters left but take that with a pinch of salt. Is there a thread that says what parts are interchangeable from different models? For instance does a 36 coupe hood and sides fit a roadster? Thanks Neil |

Re: 1936 Ford roadster Deluxe info
I don't recall a thread about those, but it's fairly straight forward.
All of the nose sheet metal pieces interchange on all of the passenger cars. Rear fenders are different for the coupe/roadster compared to sedans. What's interesting about the roadster is it's door length is the same as a 5 window coupe. Say for instance a roadster was found where the body shell was pretty wasted. It's possible (and has probably been done more than once) to take the body shell components that are unique to the roadster (cowl top and windshield mounts underneath it, dash, doors, and tulip panel with top attachment pieces, and the B pillar braces) and graft them to the 5 window shell and have a Ford sheetmetal roadster. There are some other minor things but those are the biggies.

Are the roadster floor pans the same as a 5 window coupe?

Re: 1936 Ford roadster Deluxe info
Hi Neil, that's a beautiful car. Mine has a ways to go yet. Would you be willing to snap some pics of the convertible top from the inside with the top up? I'm trying to install mine now, and would like it to look like it's supposed to. I'm especially confused by the snap-up rear window flap and how far from the top & bottom to place the rear window glass. Thanks Neil
