Re: 1932 dual guage
Isn't Michael @ Third Gen making a new dual gauge face? I thought I saw it in the new products thread?
Yep. Look here: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...=273907&page=4 |

Re: 1932 dual guage
Tim, This appears to be a old thread. We will have new faces available from our supplier likely in late Feburary

Re: 1932 dual guage
Bringing up this old post, but there was good 32 dual gauge info here, plus I have an installation question.
I am getting ready to install a dual temp/fuel gauge in my 32 Fordor. The car has a 36LB engine with later water pumps that have a temp gauge port (5/8-18 female thread). I would like to tap into that, rather than use the radiator hose fitting, but need an adapter to get to the female nut on the capillary, so 5/8-18 male x 11/16-16 male. Before I go down that rabbit hole searching for a specialty fitting (or making one), I thought I would ask here to see if anyone had already figured out a solution. Thanks, Neal |

Re: 1932 dual guage
David When my dual temperature gauge was overhauled in U.S.A I made a jig and I made several face plates but they have to be sign written by a sign writer and I still have several of them left over. The fluid in my Temperature gauge has now gone clear I would like to replace it, is it the same fluid as in the Fuel gauge, and I would like the full procedure in replacing it and caibrating the gauge. It looks like it goes in the probe end 3 and sealed with a screw.

Re: 1932 dual guage
Ian, The fluid is different from the temp and the gas gauge. Who previously rebuilt your gauge? The gauge faces are silkscreened.I had Williamson's do one for a '32 and the one in my '33 years ago.

Re: 1932 dual guage
Roy Martin rebuilt my fuel temperature gauge 14 years ago and I replaced the fluid about 7 years ago in fuel gauge and that is still working well but the fluid in the temperature gauge side has been working well but is now clear . If the Fluid in the temperature gauge and Fuel gauge are different how many different types of fluid are being used by these instrument technicians and none of them are successful, why cant you replace the fluid from the gauge end is it sealed because if you have to remove the plug on the adaptor end to replace the fluid it has only a small long line to get too the gauge end. I have no information on these dual gauges only what I have learnt on the Fordbarn Who made them.

Re: 1932 dual guage
I was able to locate a fitting and modify it to work. Since the 36 waterpump has 5/8-18 female threads and the capillary nut is 11/16-16, I needed a male x male adapter. The closest I could find was this
https://www.hydraulic-supply.com/ste...852t0608s.html 11/16-16 x 3/4-16 m x m I machined the 3/4" side to 5/8 and modified the 11/16 side to match the original hose fitting. I also had to drill it 7/16" thru. With that all done, I was able to install my original, unrestored gauge, including the 3 clips for the capillary to radiator support rod. The gauge is reading well and no leaks, so job complete. Just thought I would share in case someone else is trying to do the same. Neal Last edited by NealinCA; 09-25-2023 at 04:01 PM. |
