Re: What the best way to adjust mechanical brakes
Follow the procedure laid out in the '32 Service Bulletins of which inexpensive reproductions are available and a must-have for any owner of an original or restored '32 Ford.

Re: What the best way to adjust mechanical brakes
We had to leave on Thursday as well as I was getting worse, not better. It was a smart move as I was diagnosed with pneumonia in my right lung. I'm on the mend now.
Sorry we weren't able to get together, but your time is better spent with your family now. Check Amazon for the 1932 Service Bulletins. There are two copies available there now starting at $21.19 for a new one. They are full size and have a orange-red cover. |

Re: What the best way to adjust mechanical brakes
The problem with the combined '32-'37 reprint version is that its contents are reduced in size by nearly one half which makes many of the illustrations' information difficult to impossible to see.
That's why I recommend the '32 only reprint as it is in its full original size. I just bought one on eBay for my Grandson as he received a '32 Model B pickup basket case for his 16th birthday. |

Re: What the best way to adjust mechanical brakes
The best thing you can do with mechanical brakes is to first go through the complete system and eliminate any/all worn parts. Install shoes with woven linings and brake floaters at each wheel. Then follow the adjustment proceedures as posted here or in service bulletins.

Re: What the best way to adjust mechanical brakes
Bob,
You're right, that's full size. The book was originally produced in about half that size hardbound and that's what I was referring to. That change plus being softbound is a big improvement |
