1939 Ford Pickup
Just wondering if there are other Ford 39 PU's in East Tennessee. I thought it might be beneficial if we got together and compared problems and solutions. My truck is in Seymour and I live in Maryville. Just message me.
Thanks Randy |

Hey Clem, Thanks for the reply. I don't have problems just thought I would like to meet up with someone with a truck like mine and visit. Thanks

Randy if you ever venture up the east coast and end up here in "Vacationland" by all means give me a shout! Hope your 39 has been running well, I know mine has. Not many of these around, that's why I bought a T. Scott

Re: 1939 Ford Pickup
Great idea, unfortunately I am in Fort Wayne, In. I am the only one that I am aware of in the area with a 39. Unfortunately, mine is sick with an oil pressure problem. Pulled the engine a 2nd time and the re-builder is at it again. Thankfully the guys are backing their work..

Re: 1939 Ford Pickup
Hey Clem, I also wondered about a thrown pump. I sure hope that it heals its self. That would be a happy ending for sure. I'm still looking for friends near me with a 39 PU. I love to look at other 39's to give me ideas for mine.

39portlander, Thanks for the invite. I love your avatar. My truck resembles yours. The paint is very close to mine. Great truck.

Randy, are you an Early Ford V8 Club member? You should plan a trip for you and your pickup to the Grand National in Dearborn, Michigan next June. I also have a '39 pickup.

Another suggestion would be to contact Michael Driskell in Tennessee at Third Generation Automotive. He may know some folks that own and drive '39 pu's.

pumps with bushings you should CARFULLY force the pulley forward. It has a spring that keeps the seal against the seat. Centrifical force throws the pulley forward and the spring returns it. Move the pulley forward about 20 or 25 times until it freely returns. On the replacement bearing type pumps the shaft don't move, if one of them sticks it's usually a bad bearing that will freeze tight. G.M.
