I know. But it is the color that is the thing, remember AN (Army/Navy) fitting standards were from the WWII era. Totally period correct for the 50s.

The Army Air Corp along with Wright Patterson Air Force base developed the 37° flare angle fitting before WWII. This was adopted by the military and became known as the "AN" fitting. Use of "AN" fittings proliferated from the 1930's through the 1960's to include most branches of U.S. Military, Military Contractors, General Aviation and Commercial Aviation.

My son is in the military and they change out these fittings often on helicopters. He has collected up a number of them, the finish on the military fittings look more at home on a flathead to me, but it is the same fitting (built to the same standard).

Yes, I know they predated WWII and you could find them in Indy cars in the '50's BUT, I can not recall ever seeing them on a '40 - '60's Hot Rod.

They have their place and I use them on more modern stuff, I even have -8 thru -12 porting tools but, a FH?

Wouldn't they look "cool" for the heads to radiator hoses? If only they made them in Ford green.......

I like the look of the dull nickle finish or the black. Don't know how much Hot Rod use they got, but should have been around surplus and lot of ex-military mechanics.
