My oops. I am a retired fire sprinkler and plumbing contractor contactor. I used to own a pipe threading machine that had a 2 1/2 to 4" die head that could be set for either tapered or non tapered. The non tapered was for electrical so nuts could go on farther.

We one time had a big fire sprinkler job prefabed by big shop in Sacramento area. It all came non tapered. What a wreck

I still have the original factory installed pedal pads on the clutch and brake pedal arms of my Avatar '35 fordor. The tapered threads on the pads and pedal arms work great, and I've had to remove and reinstall those pedal pads more times than I care to admit since buying this car in 2007.
