Default windshield chrome trim

I need to remove and replace the windshield chrome trim and I'm not sure how to remove them (39 deluxe). Any suggestions?

If you are talking about the windshield frame you will need to have it replated, not inexpensive. After getting prices 20 years ago I decided to paint mine since I was not building a show car.

No show car here either, question is how do you remove them?

This is a typical 1937 thru '39 Ford windshield frame, although the two tiny clips at the outer sides can be lower, depending on WHICH year. Those tiny clips are pictured. They cover the joint which is the separation location for the upper and lower half of frames. This separation is the feature allowing glass replacement. DD

Thanks, does it require a special tool to remove the clips?

So, just pry them off with a screw driver?

Perhaps a pair of these pliers could be used to carefully spread the clips.
Be gentle.

Below, I've included some pictures of a '36-ish frame, but I can't imagine the procedure being much different. With that being said, WHY the need to remove the clip right away? It looks like (to ME) that you would slide the clip up or down on the chrome piece, then do whatever necessary to separate the upper from lower. THEN, slide the clip off! But what do I know? Me thinks V8 "slip and slide" theory is very valid. Forget my plier post.
