When dealing with anyone other than UPS for shipping all I have to say is:

Perhaps in Turkey UPS is the "go to" company. In the USA they are on the same level or lower than their competitors.
A friend of mine owns an auto glass shop. Fully 50%, yes HALF of all new windshields delivered to him by UPs were broken. Mind you, new glass is packed very well and VERY WELL labeled as to the content.
The last straw was a windshield delivered with footprints on the box. That was the last package from UPS he had accepted.

If you do an internet search for "video of deliveries gone bad " you should
be able find various other links like the one I listed below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM3SRG7D21Y

Here is another link I'm listing below about the Postal Service.
There are quite a few Postal videos, so just keep watching and
one after another keep coming on this one link... interesting.

A very good friend of mine owns a USA based global shipping company. He will ONLY use UPS. He has by far had the lowest damaged or lost package claims with them. Don't even talk to him about the USPS. They were the absolute worst, followed closely by Fed Ex. At least your friends packages showed up. With the USPS and Fed Ex they just disappear!

If anyone thinks that a UPS, FedEX or USPS employee has time to carefully place your box, then you are living in LaLa land. All of these shippers handle millions of packages on a daily basis.
It is up to the shipper to package the box well.
I'd received within a small flat rate box (USPS) two extremely rare tail lamp lens (NOS). The shipper, I kid you not, had wrapped a single (read ONE) piece of paper towel around the pair. Um, guess what? A million pieces. I blame only the (idiot) shipper.

In the past week, I have received two, not one, but TWO reproduction trunk lids from Carpenter via FedEx. Both were heavily damaged in shipping.
This is on Carpenter. Each was packed within a cardboard box with NO internal reinforcement. Each had nothing more than a number of those air pillows.
OUCH What scares me is, I'm participating in an auction soon on-line, from a sale about 900 miles from home, on a very very delicate antique that won't be cheap. I spoke with the auction house and they assured me that they have packed and shipped many similar items, double boxed, etc. and never had one arrive broken. If I had the time I'd rather DRIVE out there and get this. There is no way I can physically be there at the sale.

I may still do this you guys are really creeping me out I just don't trust any carriers in the shipping business anymore.

Jeff, I truly believe the burden is on the shipper. We all have good and bad stories to share about the transport companies.
Just remember anything can be shipped safely. It (mostly) comes down to packaging and to much lesser degree, the transport.

Tell the shipper to box it super-duper good, and then be
sure that they put a red FRAGILE sticker on it.

I'm sure if it's got the red Fragile sticker, the drivers are
taught that they should just toss it "left handed"

Kube gets it, it is mostly about how things are packaged. If it rattles in the carton it’s not good enough. Something heavy would need plywood, at the very least, inside a carton so it can’t burst out of the box. Like anything else, the quality of the result is an effect of the effort expended.

True.

Lanny says to have them put a 'Fragile' sticker on the box. That may be a sign for the guy loading the truck to drop-kick the thing into the truck

I spoke to the Auction house Wednesday as I saw there were 'updates' on several items I was interested in. The descriptions had been changed on two items and two were completely gone from the listing and had been removed. I asked them what was up with that. The auction house owner told me that Tuesday night as they were setting up, a table was knocked over and the items that had new descriptions and the items that had been removed had been broken and or damaged.

That's not a good sign, they haven't even reached the sale date yet

If it didn't have insurance added you'll be SOL.

Many banks will cash USPS money orders.

Is your gate left open or closed? Did the packages have instructions on it requiring a signature?
