Default 53 engine rebuild is done!

It took awhile (since mid August) but the complete rebuild of the 53 flatty V-8 is now done! She purrs like a sleeping tiger and looks brand new. There were a few glitches along the way, such as repairing the usual cracks, some pinning, but nothing that would jeopardize the the block integrity. New pistons in a slightly larger bore, new valves, seats, seals and a correct greenish blue Ford paint job. Having disc brakes put on the front with a power brake booster double master as needed, for this kind of upgrade. Will be done next week and home she comes. Cannot wait. The guy who worked on the car is a first class wizard with a stellar reputation and my results certainly proved that. It will be so nice to have a reliable fresh motor, for cruising next Spring. Unfortunately, the weather has turned here in upstate NY, but I might be able to squeeze in one last ride before the snow (and salt) arrive. Either way, the old girl is good to go for many years to come. I'm happy......she's happy.

Great looking Merc.
My Dad owned one in the early 60’s it was the opposite color combo with the black on the bottom. Post some pictures of that new motor.

Only three months for a complete engine rebuild? That guy is a Wizard!

That is one good looking car.

A guy named Randy Tubbs rebuilt the engine. Will post pics of the flathead when I get her home, and yes, if it's a nice day. I'll take her out for a spin.

How did that tranny fluid work out so far? I put the same stuff in mine but haven't had a chance to test drive the car to see how shifting goes.

I have had a chance to test it in very hot temperatures and normal driving, and all is great. I check it continually for leaks and to see if it is slipping, no issues so far. I did adjust the CV rod a bit to increase the shift to a bit harder, since my transmission guy had adjusted it as far as possible to get rid of the hard shifting issue.

Great looking car! Around 1968 I had a 54 Lincoln Capri with the same color combo. Car was a beast.
