Default 1938 pickup fender welt

I am putting my truck back together and need to know where welt should go, like between runing boards and fenders? What about front fenders does it go where the removable hood panel meet fenders and where the shroud meets the fender? Any help would be appericated. Joe

Not sure on 38 but on 35-36 no welting goes between fenders and running boards.

There was no evidence of welting between the fenders and the running boards on my '38 when I took it apart but who knows how many times it had been disassembled previously. It had been painted at least 4 different colors over its earlier life.

I put the welt on my panel anywhere I thought I would have paint damage due to vibration, there is a special type for around the radiator, rubberized.
