Default SW Town Sedan - what material is used for tack strip above doors?

I have removed the rope like material that is used for a tack strip above the doors of a SW 4 door. There are two parallel troughs above the doors with tabs every 4 inches or so to hold the rope material in. What material is available as a replacement? Would appreciate any comments.

I had the same issue when I did mine a few years ago. Nothing is made for this, so I took some hemp rope and soaked it in an Elmers like glue and installed it. Not a great fix but it worked.

Not exactly what you’re asking….
The tack strip on a roadster has somewhat same stuff.
I’ve cut strips of upholstery board and laminated it in the area
You could cut strips of that and feed into area with glue thereon

An slightly oversized wooden dowel can be flattened on one side (facing out) and shaped to fit in the channel. It will be flexible enough to follow the curved shape. Sorry, I don’t have a picture of this it’s been too long ago since this was done.

The upholstery guy that did my Slant Window decades ago used used fan belts he obtained from junk yards. Said it held a tac better than anything else he used.

Go to JJautofabrics.com
They sell a vinyl tack strip by the yard to receive staples, etc. for headliner, windlace, etc.
