Re: Hot-Rod Lincoln
The car really was built by George Ryan, who wrote and sang the song Hot Rod Linclon years before Comander Cody. It was a model A Ford coupe with a wheelbase stretched in front of the cowl to contain a Lincoln V12. The car was shown at Back To The fifties in St. Paul about 15 years ago.

"It's got a Lincoln motor and it's really souped up
That Model A body makes it look like a pup It's got eight cylinders, uses them all It's got overdrive, just won't stall" Not sure about the V12 mentioned above? Are you sure it didn't have a 337 Lincoln Flathead in it?

Re: Hot-Rod Lincoln
The accuracy of the lyrics should be taken with a pinch of salt - I mean, have you ever listened to the lyrics of "Greased Lightnin'"

Re: Hot-Rod Lincoln
I think there might have been two cars dubbed the Hot Rod Lincoln, both were Model A's, one had the Zephyr V-12 and the other ran a Cosmopolitan 337 V8...?

Re: Hot-Rod Lincoln
There have been several "covers" of the original song; the most recognized cover is the version by Commander Cody. Not sure if he recorded it with the Lost Planet Airmen or the Ozone Rangers… CRS strikes again.

Re: Hot-Rod Lincoln
check you tube, Arkie Shebley, when interviewed he stated he was the kid in the hopped up model A the car was custom built on a lincoln frame with a model A body, originally was a v-12.as Vic stated there were numerous versions recorded. I was wondering myself, as a youngster I heard it in the original version, and almost never found the original cut , of whitch it speaks of the song the ford and mercury,( Hot Rod Race). At the time he stated he still owns the car.

Re: Hot-Rod Lincoln
Thanks for the Hot Rod Lincoln link. Something out there for everything. I'm 57 & have been playing guitar since 7th grade (do the math) and I still can't play that song. Oh I know the notes and everything but can't play it anywhere close to fast enough. I go to the music stores and these 13 yr old kids have fingers that fly! Maybe if I didn't have stiff hands and split knuckles from pulling on wrenches I could play it!
