Default Dans polishing/chrome adamsville, tn

Hi Barners,
I hope to get my 1936 Radiator Grille off soon and send it out for plating. Has anyone had any work done by DAN'S POLISHING AND CHROME in ADAMSVILLE, TN?
I am not looking for Pebble Beach quality but certainly want a very presentable result that I will not be ashamed of.
Feel free to PM or e-mail me. Any comments will be kept confidential.
Thanks,
Bruce/CT

Hey Bruce, just sent off 12 pieces to Dans Polishing based on recommendations from the barn. If all goes well and the price is right the 36 grille will go next. I will post results.

Hi draddog68,
I'd love to hear about his work. What pieces did you send? What style 1936 car?
Thanks,
Bruce/CT

Pauls Chrome Plating Inc, 90 Pattison Street, Evans city, Pa, 16033, 724-538-3367 or 1 800 245 8679, www.paulschrome.com, They do excellent work. I emailed pics of parts and they gave me a preliminary quote before I got work done.

With every plating company there are good and bad results, my Brother sent his cab top irons to Pauls, they were good enough for an original car, no pitting, what he got back was ground into sword blades, none of the hinges fit together, tapped holes filled in --It took him a week to calm down enough to make a rational call-after 3 trips back they did make the parts fit together, and did change the irons back to somewhat rectangular from the oval they made them.
They did not look at the 5 pages of instructions with notated pictures he sent with the parts --where to polish, where it wasn't needed, what had to fit together.

I took some parts to Frankfurt plating in Philadelphia, it took a long time, perhaps my job got lost under another job, also I didn't call then to try to speed them up, I still don't have the car ready for the parts.
When I finally picked up the parts they were perfect, the threaded holes are not plated, the studs were not plated, the bumpers were straightened perfectly, the insides of the bumpers even looked good.

While everyone is pitching their favorite vendor, let me put forward Jeff Smith of Bowling Green, KY. Super good, but only polishes. A lot of restoration shops send him stiff for polishing and then sends it to platers.

Not cheap, but very good!

I've had excellent results with his aluminum polishing and chrome.

Nottingham tells me that Dan plates his repro 33 grilles, when I inquired about plating my original. I was looking for someone to not buff the spokes to get a satin finish, which I was told was OE.

Daaaaaa.... So obvious when I see it. I sat staring at it trying to figure out OE, drawing a blank.
Thanks,
Bruce
