Default Silly question #2: What keeps the lower seat springs in place on a roadster riser?

I'm doing the upholstery on my '28 roadster. The car didn't have seats, just repop springs. I've been "trial fitting" the seats as I go. Is there a bracket that holds the front bottom cushion on the riser or is it the pressure from the back spring set that keeps it in place?
