Smile Wiper motor cover

I’ve Been working on my windshield wiper motor after removing the motor cover and setting it a side I completed my inspection of the brushes and cleaned it up a bit with wd 40. The cover has some small dents and chips in the paint so while I have it off I decided to repaint it. after closer inspection I started picking at one of the chips and it appeared to be brass under the paint. Used a razor blade to remove the paint wet sanded a section of the cover and used never-dull, wow it look great. Am I correct in assuming it came form the factory unpainted brass ?
Thanks Paul

I am pretty sure nothing on the Model A was bare brass. I seem to recall that the judging standards say black.

It sounds like you have a Heinze wiper HA-C1 with the brass cover. It was originally dipped in gloss black enamel.

No polished brass one that I'm aware of.
