C59A - Replacement/ fix for crankshaft pulley
I need to either replace or modify my current C59A crankshaft pulley as the area for the seal with the spiral groove is badly worn. Searching for a replacement has proved difficult, and to complicate things, there seems to be "repair" kits available whereby you use a smooth collar with a one-piece synthetic seal. Even if there is a seal repair kit, the additional issue with my current pulley is that it came with 3 grooves, but for my rebuild, I will only need one groove to run the generator and water pumps as Ineon't be running a fan. Any recommendations as to where I can find a pulley would be much appreciated.

Hey Ziggster. Where is the spiral groove,,,,I don’t see it ?
Are you sure that one does not have a spiral,,,,,and is just badly worn from the rope seal ? Tommy |

Re: C59A - Replacement/ fix for crankshaft pulley
Hi Zig,
You definitely need to fix or replace the seal area on that snout. It will leak. - What year is the 59A going to be installed in? - What are you planning for water pumps and distributor? - If you use what you have are you planning to cut off the outermost pulley? I wouldn't use an electric fan. I have a 32 and replaced my pulley with a one year only version that has one pulley on the front, works with my pumps and spider distributor and clears the front cross-member. Part number is 81C-6312A used on 39 only. I looked into getting a Speedi-seal too. That may be your best option. Seal the worn snout to prevent oil migration under the Speedi-seal. I think the attached would work but check the dimensions carefully. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1932-1948-F...wAAOSwC6Ra3iF1 |

Isn't that one for the double groove water pumps like a truck would have? Also used with blower applications. I think I would find one for a passenger car and sell that one.

Re: C59A - Replacement/ fix for crankshaft pulley
Thanks guys. I cannot use the pulley as I will only need to drive the water pumps and generator. I assume the groove on the new water pumps I purchased will align with the stock generator. The engine is going into a custom built speedster, and the radiator will be rear mounted and will use electric cooling fans (I hope). My build thread on the HAMB.

The engine is out of some industrial setup from out in western Canada. It even came with the truck trans and a radiator!
A pic of one of water pumps with dual grooves. |

Yes sell the water pumps and crank pulley as a set and put single groove water pumps and pulley on it.
