Re: closed v/8 site
Looks like it's gone. There was some drama about the lack of activity about the new block, and the last time I was on there, it seemed that some tempers were on the edge. I personally tried to contribute ax much as I could until about a year ago when it seemed to slow down a lot and I never seemed to get back there. Too bad

Heck we never want to loose all that valuable info on the techno site. I for one refer to it often.
Gone but certainly not forgotten. |

Perhaps if those who liked the site would have posted there, it would still be there.

Do you have the full web address saved? Have you looked for it here? - http://archive.org/web/

Re: closed v/8 site
I also hate to see the site shut down, as friend Bill Bentley put a lot of time and effort keeping it going for many years, and as did Carl the last few. Activity has been on the decline for some time, but slowed considerably the last year or so, and like tubman, found myself loosing interest for days/weeks at a time.
I do hope the valuable Techno Source site stays up and available, but I have no idea what's involved to accomplish that. |

Re: closed v/8 site
From what little I remember from my "Running Internet Sites" days, the "~billben" is a reference to an individual's personal storage area on some computer someplace. As such, I am lead to believe that that information is at some level of peril. We should do what we can to make sure it is not lost. Hopefully Carl will see that it is retained somehow for now, but what about later? I'm not close enough to the situation to start anything, but I would offer any help I can give.

Re: closed v/8 site
There are utilities like HTTrack that will download an entire website to your hard drive. If a couple people here do that, in the event that the site is abandoned it could be uploaded to a new server or appended to another existing site.
In the meantime the archive.org site will keep it available publicly. |
