Default 16 inch inner tube stem size (shims?)

I am thinking of replacing my old 600 x 16 tires with new radials and saw elsewhere on the forums that you should use radial tubes with them. I see from ads that most show a stem size on the tubes called a TR13 and state they are for 1/2 stem holes.

I also saw somewhere that shims are used for holes that are the larger type called TR15s.

My wheels are 1935 Ford 16". Will I need shims for the tube stems, or will the TR13 stems that come with these tubes work ok. If I need shims, does anyone have a source as to where to get them?
Thanks, Frank

Just recently I was informed by others here that I did not need tubes with my 16s. Had the rims sand blasted smooth and painted, put on the new radials and no tubes.

What size and brand radials are you going to use?

I have a plastic parts bin that I keep a few of these in. Don't no if this will help you. Just passing this along.

I just put 600-16 ww radials on my wheels. I ordered the tires and tubes at the same time and no mention was made about stem size. I had them mounted last week and they look great. I can't wait till spring to try them out. I ordered mine from Universal Tire in Hershey. I have heard that some of the tubes are defective but mine seem to be fine

The tires that I think I would get are from Walmart, they are Goodyear Viva 3s and are 215 70R16s. They seem like a good choice and are $99 each.

I don't know for sure that the hole in the rim is larger than 1/2 inch or not, so even with tubeless, it would seem that you would need a value that is big enough for the hole.

So, can anyone verify how large the hole is for 16 inch 1935 Ford Wheels. Also some members do not recommend going tubeless. I think I would prefer to have tubes in mine.

This will fit 16" rims. I have these in 4 in my 15" wheels and hole size is the same as 16"

I wanted tubes too, but many here said it wasn't needed. I made a request to the tire store to order them for me, for which they did, but when they put the tires on, they said the fit was perfect and didn't need them, I saved money and they lost a profit by their choice not mine, I wasn't going to argue with them on that.

ZZLegend, thanks for the link, I just ordered the value stems in case I go that way. They were cheap enough to have on hand. Still not sure which way I'll go.
