Default 30-31 radiator

Is there an explanation for this tank configuration? Everything else, lower tank, side bands, core, tabs necking are all according to spec and drawings...so what gives?

Is it maybe a replacement radiator from years ago?

Hey Flathead, I thought so too, but cannot find any evidence of an aftermarket like this...everything about it is OEM Ford except the bands not continuing to the top.

Some early re-pros, made by Isaac Kramer, were designed to hold MORE water. I "think" Vermins' radiator IS one of his.

Mid, you might be correct...I will measure it in the next couple of days...but what a fine reproduction if it is.

Who is Vermin? When would this have been made and where?

VERMIN is my '29 Coupe.
Isaac Kramer was a Russian Immigrant, who made repro radiators from '29 until the late '30's. Some of his tanks were designed for MORE water capacity & had unusual tube arrangements & fin designs.
Mine is in BEAUTIFUL condition, doesn't leak & has NO signs of ever being repaired!
"Someone" was once going to post pics of his, but NEVER did. With the radiator shell on, the top tank of mine appears identical to the AUTHENTIC '29 tank.

Hi Bill, I think you are the right answer...It appears that Kramer became Brassworks. I will take and post more photos of the unit if it will help. It is the top tank that I noticed. If it was made in the 30's, it is in absolutely amazing condition. It came off a car that was passed from father to son and the radiator has been on that car for 50 years...why he wanted to change it? He said it was overheating. I think the problem was not the radiator.

Don
I read "somewhere" that Kramer quit making car radiators in the late '30's & began to build commercial evaporators, condensers, etc. BUT, you can read many unfounded things???
