Ford made some beautifully designed cars. Personally I think they looks slick.

I like 'em but if others think they are ugly then that is OK too. They won't bother putting Chebbies in them.

All stock except for 15" accessory wheels and a right tail light with blue dots. Balanced 85hp . Sweet little coupe that was restored in 1982. Driven very little

Standards were still a great looking design, I know some don't understand them. Also the curves of '39 & '40 swooping roof line made them one of the best looking cars of that era -IMO.

Love it! I'd give it garage space.

I didn't know there were 15" wide 5s that were not home made.

I love it, I have the same car. Mine is unrestored and will stay that way. What are your plans for it?

Interesting the way a 38 deluxe and a 39 standard changed. The trunk area was all new and that changed the way the trim was lowered all the way to the grill. 38s the trim was on the hood and the the 39 dropped it down a couple of inches all the way to the rear.

Mart.
Kelsey Hayes I believe made aftermarket 15" wide five wheels,I have owned a set or two of them. The ones I had were owned by stock car driver/friends from the early 50's. I don't know for sure but I thought I read in V8 Times or somewhere that the wheels were made after WWII to 1950's as replacement to accept the 15" tires that were becoming more prevalent. None of this at the moment I can prove but I had some proof years ago to show to a friend that thinks his 15" wheels are original and should be V8 Club acceptable on his '36 Ford coupe. His claim is that they are Cordoba grey or whatever color his coupe is originally and so therefore they are the original wheels. We have had this argument for years and it has surfaced again. Like I said they were a very popular and strong wheel used by a lot of stock car drivers.I don't like them because you can't put spider wheel covers on them.

Indeed, one of the ugliest Ford's made.

Just turn it over to me and I'll take care of it.
It won't get any noticed this far north!
