Break-in oil, when to change it out?
I'm running 10w-30 Comp Cam break-in oil. I put it in the engine this past February when I first started the engine. I ran it to break in the cam/lifters and a couple of times afterwards to re-torque the head bolts. I have about 150 miles on it since installation in the car. I'm running the "95%" filter. What is the suggested miles/time to leave it in?

I changed mine at 500, put in an additive for the cam/ lifters on the oil change as well.

Re: Break-in oil, when to change it out?
I'm glad you're running the full flow filter system. I was told back 50-60 years ago to get the first oil out of the engine as soon as possable. Today the engines are much cleaner than back then, when assembled. Also the oil filters in the new engines remove most of the damaging particles in the oil. So, if you have the full flow oil system, I'd say a few 100 miles. If not then, just a few trips around the block.

Go with the recomendation for the oil. But in general don´t leave it in longer then absolutely needed. |
