Re: Factory Wood Graining
Well, Nick did a great job modifying a passenger car dash for my Tub and Ben Barnhart did a great wood grain job. All has been done for about 40 years and I am totally satisfied. Doesn’t matter to me what the correct woodgrain is..mine looks so good.

Re: Factory Wood Graining
I agree. I'll never have a 100% original car so I don't have a dog in this fight so to speak. But the photos of all patterns that I've seen posted here are amazing. If its yours and you like it, end of discussion.

Re: Factory Wood Graining
To muddy the waters a bit I took this glove box door off a Canadian 1933 Ford and it appears to have a completely different woodgrain pattern

Re: Factory Wood Graining
I must say the Nick did a great job(dash woodgrain) on a '34 roadster I built in 1973.He even modified a dash from a sedan since the original roadster dash was gone .Fit perfect.

Re: Factory Wood Graining
I think this might be very early 33. A note about original (FORD ) woodgrain
The glove box door and the ashtray cover are different than dash, I have posted pictures of ashtray cover. As to glovebox door. The dashboard and glovebox door were woodgrained at different times. I have seen examples of this. The pattern is same but the color of hue sometimes is different. MY orignal 33 2door is like that. I am DO NOT suggest you have your 33 34 glovebox door grained or color be different. I am just saying that some not all differ. As to ashtray cover I think they should be grained as my pictures show. |

Re: Factory Wood Graining
I believe the effort put into a restoration is worth credit. Hand craftsmanship is less common these days in our modern world. I like the look. It represents an art that involves the labor of love. I wouldn't mind having the dash on my '33 pickup done someday but I am reluctant to dismantle everything to accommodate it.....
