Early Model A advertisement
My daughter is here for Easter and helping me post a picture.this is an early advertisement I have.you might notice there is no front bumper on this photo.i have never found an ad that doesn't show a bumper. Also no door handles and the steering wheel is red. If this works I will post photos of my old fords as soon as I take them out of storage for spring. Frank

Re: Early Model A advertisement
Some of the first pictures of The New Ford, especially newspaper feature, depicted the cars without bumpers.
I sometimes have wondered whether Ford initially intended the bumpers to be optional ; but bumpers were mandatory but ''extra charge'' in the US, but not with Canadian cars. Some of the '28 '29 Model AA trucks were sold without front bumpers. |

Re: Early Model A advertisement
No front bumper? Why does that look familiar?
Note: Mine should be going back on this week-end

Re: Early Model A advertisement
A great many of the earlier (and sometimes, later) advertizements were artist sketches, not photos. In such cases one often times finds oddities that differ from actual production models - more representative of the artist than actual factory production cars. The 'no bumpers' is just such an example. The 'French Pillar' on 4-door cars is another example.

Re: Early Model A advertisement
That print is most likely one that was meant to hang in the dealerships before every dealer got a demo. There is a Ford memorabilia museum here in CT and he has one of every model for 28.
The early illustrations were often a bit different than reality. |

Re: Early Model A advertisement
Frank,
What you have is an original Ford Model A showroom poster from the first series of posters that Ford produced. Here it is hanging on the wall of this Ford dealership with your's next to it for comparison: (University of Louisville Photographic Archives) You have a very nice poster!
