Re: O/T greenfield village
Pioner Village is a great place to stop. Better plan on at least a full day. Another good place is Speedway Motors in Lincoln Nebraska.

Here's a map I started (but long from being finished) of relevant Ford Sites of interest. Lots of Detroit & Dearborn locations.

I would stay away from the inner city of Detriot at night as we were told it was quite dangerous. I am sure you'll enjoy your visit there. |

Re: O/T greenfield village
I just stayed at The Henry which is near Greenfield Village. The Dearborn Inn is also nice looking.

Re: O/T greenfield village
Don't miss Pioneer Village. It is a great hidden treasure and one of those places that may not be around ten years from now. If you are traveling through Michigan, one of the best car museums bar none in the USA is the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners, just north of Kalamazoo about 30 minutes from I-94. This is an amazing car lovers paradise and will be the new home of the MAFFI museum. They have about 250-300 cars on display of all types-many world class automobiles that you will not see anywhere else and the restored barns and grounds are picture perfect. It is by far my most favorite car museum in the US.
In terms of staying in Dearborn, treat yourself and stay at the Dearborn Inn (A Marriott hotel). It was built by Henry, you can walk to the Museum/Village and it is loaded with Ford memorabilia. If you don't stay there, The Henry is a great and recently renovated hotel (also a Marriott property). Have a great time in Michigan! |

Re: O/T greenfield village
We stayed at the Best Western, it's just a couple minute drive. Get the package deal and save money and your parking will be free. Also at the motel the shuttle is free to the village. Breakfast is included and you can order it from a menu. We've stayed there two different times. Very nice place. Be sure and take good walking shoes, but there are plenty of benches for rest. Have fun! Ron

The Best Western (Pink Palace) has an outstanding collection of auto art and photos. Every time I visit there, I take the long way out so I can see more of the pictures. The restaurant has a good dinner menu too.
