Passenger Side Peep Mirror
Does anyone know of a source of a peep mirror that will work on the passenger side of a 47? All the one's I have seen that say they are for the RH side, the arms are not curved down far enough to be useful.

Re: Passenger Side Peep Mirror
I use a blind spot mirror stuck on the wind wing. It's not ideal, but it helps.

Re: Passenger Side Peep Mirror
I have two of these on my '38, convex on both sides of the car. There is enough convex to give a wider field of view, but not enough to be "fisheye". The mirror head swivel is offset to allow more drop if needed. The head is reversed on the arm for left or right. These appear to be a United Pacific product available on Amazon.

Re: Passenger Side Peep Mirror
I used straight arm mirrors mounted on the front edge of both doors. The mirror rotates on the arm to work on either side. Stuck a 4" convex on the passenger side. Works great.

Re: Passenger Side Peep Mirror
The right hand "original" on my '47 was listed in the Ford Book as being purely for decoration and "balance" for the one on the driver's side. I have a convertible and with the top up, I'm totally blind making a lane change from left to right.
I found a wind wing mirror for the Model T in Mac's, mounted on the right wind wing and noted by 40dFord and put a wide angle mirror on top of the regular mirror that came with it. Yes, I need to keep the wind wing open a little....a new form of mirror adjustment.....and now I have no blind spot!!! It worked for me!! |

I own 3 fat fender cars and no mirror has ever worked for me on the pass side.

Re: Passenger Side Peep Mirror
I made a bracket (polished stainless) that clips on the edge of the wind wing, and straddles the top pivot. I put a stick-on convex mirror on it. No more blind spot.
And yes, to RKS comment above... total blind spot on right side, mine being a 47 convert. |
