Default front license plate

Hi All,
Anyone know where I can buy a new or used period style front license plate bracket for my 1947 Ford coupe?

Many Thanks in advance.

If you know what it looks like search eBay, and the swap meet section of the Ford Barn.

ALL '47 Fords have two slots and one hole in the front bumper for mounting the plate. DD

The piece that fits between the bumper guards may be mistaken for a license plate bracket.

The front license plate bracket was discontinued on March 1st 1946. As coopman points out the '47 should have slots in the bumper for mounting your plate. If you don't have the slots your bumper might have been replaced at one time.

Thank you everyone.
Was told that my coupe is a early 47, has the parking lights above the grill. No slots just a square hole dead center in the bumper.

I think you need to determine the production date of your car. If you have the 1946 style front end sheet metal and your car is titled as a '47 then your car was assembled during the first quarter of 1947. If your car has it's original '46 style bumper with the single hole, then I would use the '46 style plate bracket. The plate bracket attaches to the hole in the bumper and the "spreader" between the bumper guards as shown in posts 4 and 5. If you don't have the "spreader" you will also need to purchase one also. As corvette points out in Post 9, all the information is available in the '41-48 Ford Book offered by the V-8 Club.

I have an NOS bracket for the '46. It fits behind the cross bar between the two guards. $25 plus actual shipping cost. PM me if you want it. Actually I have more than one if anyone needs another one.
