Light switch bail
I’ve been perplexed by this assembly…. My light switch and bail retainer on my 38 was (of course) disassembled when I purchased the car.
I have the two piece switch assembled correctly and fully installed on end of steering column, fully seated. Lights work correctly. The retaining bail spring retainer continues to flummox me… 1. Does the bail mount hinge mount horizontally or vertically? I’ve seen evidence of it vertically with bail swinging from passenger side towards driver’s side and snapping on, I’ve also seen the bail mounted horizontally and the bail swinging down from top toward bottom . (See attached diagram for both examples). 2. My car appears to have the horizontal arrangement. Am I correct in assuming it swings top down as indicated on diagram? A Ford expert said it should swing from bottom up to clear the harness and I agree it makes the most sense. 3. My bail wire is not even close to having enough length to engage the ball and snap on to the two depressions. As always, thank you in advance! ~ Steve Last edited by 38convsedan; 12-01-2023 at 07:09 PM. |
