Could you folks tell me where the title vin# is located on a Model A frame and engine.

Thanks

On the top frame rail just beyond the front body bolt.

The engine number is on the left side of the engine on a flat spot above the water inlet. It may or may not be a registration or frame matching number.
The frame number is on the driver's side under the body and it may or not match the engine number or the registration number. Russ

If the motor number pad has a rough cast iron texture, it has NOT been re-stamped, BUT, it may NOT be the engine that was original to your car.

For the body number, look at the rail behind/or to the side of your left foot. First letters are the Assembly Plant.

To see the frame number you have to lift the body and the splash pan below the door. Then the number may be there if it has not been worn off. Many of them are gone. That is a lot of work.

Many motors have been replaced through the years as they wore out so the motor number may not be the one that came with the car. You are not supposed to change the original number but I look on the replacement motor as a replacement of a part of the car and if it has a different number than what is on the title you should change it back to the original whole car number so it will match the title.

That is my story and I am sticking to it. No matter what California says!

I have stamped the number there in the past, just in case anybody ever wanted to look but then somebody here said that it was illegal to stamp a number.
I still do it but the few times somebody has asked they always just looked at the engine number. Make that one right and nobody looks further. I can't see where putting the correct legal number on anything can possibly be illegal.
