Default Safe Oil Level

If I run my 29CCPU with the oil level right in the middle between the "F" and the "L" am I safe? I seem to have less of a leak running there. Also, why is there a line 1/2" above the "F"?

We keep ours at the full line. Very little dripping.

There are owners that like to run their cars down a quart to keep oil leakage to a minimum.

I’ll take the oil under the car. Our engine is worth more to me than a couple of drips of oil on the garage floor. I believe there is a reason Model A’s need five quarts of oil. Enjoy.

A guess - Additional line - if it looks like it has been added, perhaps a PO added the line for a fill mark if dropping the pan, cleaning the pan and dipper tray?
