Default 1915 center door sedan question

Did the 15 centerdoor sedan have carriage lights mounted behind the doors or did it have cowl lights?.I have seen them both ways. Phil

http://mtfca.com/encyclo/Cdoors.htm

"The 1915 Ford Sedan was announced in a letter to Ford branches dated September 23, 1914. Photos released at that time illustrated a car that saw little, if any, production. It featured carriage lamps on the side and gas headlights. Later photos show the same or similar car with large electric headlamps and oil cowl lamps."

The car with carriage lights you see pictures of is a prototype. It also has curved and pointed fenders. Any cars in modern times that have the carriage lights have been put
on later by people looking at those pictures. IMO
The 1915's had cowl lamps like the other cars. I have been lucky enough to see a few
real 1915 cars built in 1915. They had the cowl lamps and no carriage lamps.
I have also seen a few later cars turned into 1915's that had the carriage lamps and
one even had the curved and pointed fenders made for it.

The car I just bought has carriage lights(not on car) and electric head lights. The cowl lights must have be removed during a 1950s restoration.Im sure it is a 15 because it has the gas tank under the rear seat, one piece
aluminum rear panel, and 3 piece windshield. There is no sign of holes to mount the cowl lights.

Likely the production '15 sedan had this lamp style with these unique brackets too.

The brackets are fairly easy as they used them on trucks also. I see them on ebay every
once and a while. Does it have the correct long intake manifold also?
Its one of my favorite body styles, very classy.

Dodge ,I agree they are classy and different.I found a set of brackets on E B!!!,now all I need are the lamps. I have always been attracted to the center doors, and missed one a couple years ago. When I saw this one on E B!!! And the seller claiming it was a genuine 1915, I had to take a look.I read up on the differences and found that they would be difficult to replicate.A friend and I made a 500 mile trip to inspect the car,and thankfully my trip was not for naught.

Did this car come out of Mill Valley California before you got it?

Its probably the same one. There was a collection with some very rare T's. There was
the 1915 Center Door, the Torpedo Roadster a very original 1909 Touring and several
other cars. I saw the Cars after the owner passed away and his son was trying to figure
out what to do with them. That Center Door was a pretty nice car. It was the same exact
color combination so I think it was the same car. I have some pictures somewhere.

Dodge,The story sounds the same. The owner passed and the son sold the cars for college money. It must have been a great original car that should not have been restored. It seams to have all the crazy 15 center door only parts which really make the car unique. The top bows are not bowed as a lot of CD cars are and it still has the original top material on it and is in good shape
.It has the original rear and door shades and the dome light. Phil
