Cam repair
For those of you that were waiting for me to get the "salvage worn journal model A cams" project going, it is going and works good.
The lobe regrind part will be a grind that is very similar to the stock original grind EXCEPT that it will be modern design and run on one inch lifters. It will also have a larger nose radius so it doesn't wear off like the original grind. I will have a sample of the journal repair for viewing at my shop during the Puyallup meet time. I am 45 minutes by model A from the fair grounds on the road to Mt. Rainier. |

Re: Cam repair

Re: Cam repair
Pete, what does the journal repair involve? Is it spray welded and turned back to standard or some kind of sleeve?

Re: Cam repair
Sleeving sounds like a good idea . You could probably also sleeve them oversize to take up slack in a worn block as most have.

I have sleeved many cams where the block was bored to take an oversize off the shelf insert bearing. These cams had .480 lift and radius lifters. |

Re: Cam repair
What price range is expected for a refurnished cam compared to a new one?

Re: Cam repair
Are you looking for cores, and what is a core worth?
